» Pivot announce Australian tour - October 15, 2008
Following the release of their highly acclaimed sophomore album O Soundtrack My Heart and extensive UK and European tours, Pivot will return to Australia in November to launch new single and album title track ‘O Soundtrack My Heart’.
Pivot will unveil ‘O Soundtrack My Heart’ at Rocket Bar in Adelaide on Friday 21 November, The Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Saturday 22 November, The Zoo in Brisbane on Friday 28 November, The Gaelic Theatre in Sydney on Saturday 29 November, and The Bakery in Perth on Friday 5 December. Joining Pivot in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane are minimalist outfit My Disco, with special guests still to be announced in Melbourne and Adelaide.
Having spent the first part of 2008 touring Europe and the UK with the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Battles, and Yellow Magic Orchestra, as well as playing Glastonbury and the Massive Attack-curated Meltdown Festival, Pivot returned to Australia in August to release O Soundtrack My Heart. The album was met with glowing reviews in both Australia and abroad, and the band performed to sold out venues across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, whilst also finding the time to squeeze in an east coast tour with Icelandic maestros Sigur Ros.
Following this whirlwind Australian tour less than two months ago, Pivot have since played an astonishing 33 club shows and festivals in Europe and the UK, with another seven shows pending before their return. Pivot also performed at the Pukkelpop (Belgium), Biddinghuizen (Netherlands), Electric Picnic (Ireland) and Numusic (Norway) festivals alongside the likes of Black Dice, Hot Chip, My Bloody Valentine, and N*E*R*D, and have just been announced to perform at the inaugural Australian St Jeromes’ Laneway Festival in 2009.
No strangers to musical endeavour, Pivot are the first Australian group to be signed to iconic UK label Warp Records, home to Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Battles, and Autechre. With a reputation for pushing musical boundaries both in the studio and in the live setting, Pivot combine the raw garage energy of three explosive musicians with intensive studio production, to create a sound that combines elements of electronica, glitch and cathartic rock. Part prog-warrior and part slacker-geek, Pivot create sonically-visionary and, for the most part, forebodingly infectious music.
Don’t miss your chance to see Pivot live in Australia this November and December, with very special guests My Disco (Sydney, Brisbane and Perth only). My Disco will return from Japan to play their last shows of 2008 with Pivot.
