As part of the premiere season of All Tomorrow’s Parties, ATP Australia are proud to announce additional tour dates for English space-rock band SPIRITUALIZED.
Spiritualized live by their own methods. Although a ‘group’ the line-up is the whim of leader/songwriter Jason Pierce a/k/a J. Spaceman. The band’s name is like a mantra: a spiritualisation or ‘rock’ through hypnotic structures. Pierce - like Nick Cave - goes to dark places and makes them most beautiful. This finds a delicate balance between minimalist rock and orchestral adornment.
SPIRITUALIZED last visited Australia as a five-piece line-up in 2004 performing songs from their release at the time - Amazing Grace. The 2009 tour - at the invite of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - sees a seven piece line-up presenting songs from this years enthusiastically received “Songs in A & E”, as well as material from the bands extensive six album catalogue.

And joining Spiritualized on the Australian leg of their journey are arguably the original space-rock band, SILVER APPLES. Formed in New York City in 1967, SILVER APPLES played psychedelic music without the aid of guitars relying solely on drums and the electronics and songs of mainman Simeon Cox and paved the way for (amongst others) future electronic pioneers; Suicide, The Human League, Pan Sonic and Fuck Buttons. Although breaking up in 1969, Simeon Cox has revisited Silver Apples since the mid-nineties playing at various festivals throughout Europe to an ecstatic response. This will be Silver Apples first visit to Australia.
