Various Artists - Triple J's Live At The Wireless: From The Vaults Volume 1 (Album)
Triple J has always nurtured live music in Australia - promoting and supporting festivals such as The Big Day Out, Splendour in The Grass, The Falls Festival and more! Having recorded many of these concerts, the youth radio broadcaster has a massive library of live music known as "The Vault". As part of the stations 30-year celebrations in 2005, they aired over a weekend the "Impossible Music Festival" - an awesome playlist of favorite live recordings as voted by us, the listeners.
The huge success of this on-air festival begged for more - and live music fans will be pleased to know that Triple J have just released their first of a series of CD compilations, Live At The Wireless: From The Vaults 1.
This CD comprises of 15 quality recordings by Triple J's Live Music Engineers over a vast number of years. The earliest is "A Forest" (The Cure, recorded 1981) - but despite being recorded with technology that is now 25 years old, the sound quality is superb, as with all the recordings.Other classics include "To Look At You" (INXS, recorded 1982) and "Blister In The Sun" (Violent Femmes, recorded 1990). But down let these oldies fool you into thinking that this album is just some typical "best of" - there's an abundance of recent favorites. A drop of Aussie Hip Hop, a splash of Folk/Roots, a pinch of Electronic and a handful of Rock makes this album a delicious compilation with something to suit all tastes!
The Album artwork/booklet contains the details of each live recording - the location and date, a few photos, and blurb about each of the artists performances.
So if you're a fan of live music and want your own mini-festival in your living room, definitely check out this album - there's something for everyone:
