I Said I’m Sorry is the first song off British India’s upcoming album Thieves to be released next month and if this song is an indicator of the rest of the record then there is no need for apologies and sign me up for some stealing! This track has already been getting much support from the listeners of Triple J making it one of the top super requests this month.
The one thing I have a hard time doing is listening to different versions of any one song. I believe the first time I heard this song was at one of their live shows so I seem to think that this track is supposed to go much faster. There is a tendency to get used to the first hearing of things so maybe the introduction of the guitar lick is just slower than I remembered it. But as the song goes on it builds right into a heavier chorus giving it the illusion of the original tempo I seem to recall. The verse brings in a steady bass drum and line before changing single plucked notes to guitar strums which is a standard build up I suppose, but by the time you reach the chorus you don’t care as everyone just wants to join in the oohs.
Another great song for British India and I bet you won’t be missing your part in the chorus. Heck “we can (even) shake hands on it”. I Said I’m Sorry will be the one to grab some new fans and capture them into their ever-growing fan base and I bet the band definitely won’t be sorry about that.
