With their debut single In Your Hands and album Every Turn picking up airplay around the country thanks to stations like Triple J, 3PBS and 3RRR after its October 2007 release, Melbourne trio Tin Alley follow up with their new single and third release in 9 months, Polar Bear.

Earlier this year, the band suffered a massive set back, after the band’s drummer experienced a motorcycle accident, and their first national tour had to be cancelled just days from their departure. He has since recovered and the band is back and raring to go, with this new single and their first national tour!

The funky pop number and new single Polar Bear seems an appropriate new beginning while keeping the band’s signature melodic, stripped back and harmonic indie rock sound.

Polar Bear draws its inspiration from an unsuccessful courting attempt with a female by one of the band members. At a Melbourne club and in the proximity of an attractive blonde girl, Paul asks his friend "...now what's a good ice-breaker?" Just as the music dies down, the girl hears the question and before any reply could be suggested she walks over. "...Polar Bears. Polar Bears break ice…" she cleverly says and struts away to her friends. Little did she know that her crafty response would spawn Tin Alley's third single release!

Polar Bear was recorded by studio owner and engineer Ren Parisi at Melbourne Records (Kisschasy, Dallas Crane, Jet) and mastered by John Ruberto of Crystal Mastering – two individuals who need little introduction, and features two new Tin Alley recordings Scour The World and In A Knot. Mitchell Alexander of Rave Magazine, said that Tin Alley “fill space with a minimal amount of instruments” and have the “chops to show for it”.
