MICHAEL FRANTI and SPEARHEAD

The political musings of Michael Franti are showcased in Yell Fire! Live which was performed & recorded live at the Pukkelpop 2006 Festival in Belgium. Most of the songs from this album come from his 2006 release Yell Fire! which was recorded and written after Franti travelled with his guitar to the war zones of Iraq, Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Opening track ‘Time to go Home’ reflects this trek as he sings about the boys and girls at war, at his obvious opinion it’s time to get them home! The album’s political undercurrent doesn’t deter at all from the down right funky sounds of Franti and Spearhead. The album touches on a range of genres from his roots stylings right through to party pleasing ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Everyone Deserves Music’.

‘Hello Bonjour’ is a catchy track that will have you singing along in no time, ‘Sometimes’ and ‘Everyone Deserves Music’ are the highlights and are sure to be something everyone enjoys.

This is a great live recording, the sound quality impeccable and Franti puts on a great live show. As he himself sings – Everyone Deserves Music – and if you haven’t already, have a listen to some Spearhead.
