» Unconsecrated - Red Shore, The

After a fatal car crash last December claimed the life of lead singer Damien Morris, fans wouldn’t have been surprised if that spelled the end of The Red Shore. However the band decided to stay together and continue to create music in honour of Morris. The result of which is the highly anticipated debut LP Unconsecrated.

The band had already begun recording the album when Morris died making it sound rather disjointed in areas, but for the most part the record is pure dynamite. Morris’s vocals can be heard on tracks including The Garden Of Impurity , Your Chariot Awaits and The Forefront Of Failure and all three pack quite a punch as they are full of energy and hostility. The rest of the songs are sung by the bands former bassist *Jamie Hope* who sounds uncannily similar to Morris.

The likes of Karl Schubach (Misery Signals), Brendan Schieppati (Bleeding Through) and Oliver Sykes (Bring Me The Horizon) can be heard on track 5 The Architects Of Repulsion. This song along with the title track would have to be the highlights of the album. Both are raw and in your face and are guaranteed to get ugly live.

Unlike other bands who loose a lead vocalist, there is no feeling of uncertainty when it comes to Hope and his ability to fill in as the new front man. If anything the death of Morris has solidified fans love of the band as they want to see The Red Shore push on and continue to make Morris proud.

Despite their personal turmoil The Red Shore have stuck together to create their best release so far. Unconsecrated has everything that a death metal fan will love. It's aggressive, severe and ruthless.
