To tell you the truth I had never heard of Mary Jane Kelly and I feel like I should have, because they have played along side some of my favourite bands, including Lifetime, A Wilhelm Scream and Bring Me the Horizon. The Wollongong youngens were originally supposed to release this EP on Michael Crafters (I Killed The Prom Queen/ Big Brother stardom) label, but was put on hold due to a hectic schedule. Trail and Error chomped them up like a pensioner does a chicken parma and put out this EP.

Our Streets Turn White kicks off with a moody intro that builds you up to the first track, Sinking Ships & Burning Cars. The build up is not let down. You instantly know this is going to be a great EP. One of the things that really pushes this song is Bortignon’s vocals and lyrics as well as a driving double time beat.

Second track in and again you a hit over the head by a pleasure brick and Bortignon’s vocals begin the song. This song, Folding Seas And Lonely Deaths has some very catchy guitar work that is similar to Stretch Arm Strong.

The production on the album is great, everything is crisp and clear. The drums sound slightly over produced and is something I’m not usually a fan of, but It seems to work great in this recording. It’s still has a live energy that is so hard to get when a band like this is in the studio.

Following Folding Seas And Lonely Deaths is the super fast track Worthwhile Overdose. And again another kick to the teeth. Fans of Give Up The Ghost would love this track.

The title track kicks in with a great sample from The 25th Hour followed by a riff that could impregnate women, no impregnate men it’s so powerful. This is a clever song that is truly unique. This band is something unique in a sea of the rubbish metalcore clones. This EP leaves you wanting more from this young band. It’s fast, new and fresh, and that’s what we need more of in hardcore today. Go buy it, you wont regret it.
