H20 - Nothing To Prove (Album)
It may have taken them seven years, but H20 have finally released a new album Nothing To Prove. The album is a fast and filled to the brim with flawlessly catchy melodies, which you find yourself humming for the rest of the day. H20 do have something to prove, they can still do it.
The album is just only 25 minutes long if you take out the spoken word track that closes the album. Nothing To Prove was producedby New Found Glory’s guitarist, Chad Gilbert. His influence doesn’t show up all over the album, but his presence is often noticeable. The album is chock-full of guest vocals from Roger Miret, Paul Miner, Kevin Seconds, Civ and many more pitching in vocals song after song.
The album begins with a child’s voice (Maximus, Toby Morse’s son) saying “For those who don’t know… H2O GO!” Which is cool, but it can also get fairly annoying. Nothing To Prove’s title track is an obvious stand out with its catchy gang vocal chorus and its double time power, all dosed up in just 80 seconds. Other stand outs include, What Happened? and Still Here, both songs about the current fashion conscious hardcore scene.
The album ends with 6 minutes of conversational style spoken word from H2O and their friends, which is really quite interesting. The album is almost a journey through H2O’s survival, beginning with the track 1995 and ending with that celebrates the bands career and life up to 2008.
Let’s hope its not 7 more years before another release.
