Taylor Swift - Fearless (Album)
If it has been a while since you have watched a teen movie, complete with shallow plots and predictable twists and of course the unparalleled tear- jerker soundtrack, then get your hands on Taylor Swift’s new album Fearless. Certain to satisfy the cravings for any of the above, this music has a sound that is capable of instantly transporting you to the mid-late teen years of wishing that Freddie Prinze Jr went to your high school.
I must confess, I actually do enjoy this CD, it has grown on me in the few days that I have owned it. Day 1, I had a corny smile plastered to my face, because the simplified lyrics and catchy beat had me thinking I was listening to a Jessica Simpson clone. Day 2, I listened to it again, just mulling around the house and later that night, at all too inappropriate venues was still singing “Romeo, take me, somewhere we can be alone” from the first single release Love Story. Another catchy line, to accompany the singsong feel of the track is “I keep waiting for you but you never come, is this in my head I don’t know what to think”...well, never is a long time, but apparently only long enough to last till the next line where he proposes! Ok, so this song is a bit much to stomach from such a young girl. But trust me, one listen and you’ll be singing along whether you like it or not. So she will at least achieve more of a name for herself.
So by Day 3 I have picked a few more tracks to sing along to and maybe even begin to enjoy. Though I need to remind myself, she is still young and the love stories still have an appreciated innocence to them . The Way I Loved You, again has that teen movie feel to it, but also lightly flavoured with the American Country music sound, that she has pigeon holed into nicely.
Another track worth a mention and a listen to is Forever and Always, probably from the title you’ve picked that it’s going to be more love stories, well you are right. Forever and Always is a classic country pop song that will probably ensure Taylor a title as the American female answer to the Aussie male country pop sensation Keith Urban. But to her credit this song is actually quite effective as a pop/country song. With all the right ingredients – guitar riffs and repetitive beats, and stick-in-your-head-lines like “you flash to when he said forever and always”.
Overall, I’d listen to this CD if you are already in a good mood, and you need a laugh or a sing along, OR if you are just into the American country music scene, because it will certainly satisfy you.
